Foreword

From newly-weds to up-graders, from investors to expatriates, property in Singapore if often the largest single investment that a person can make. As a result, current and comprehensive information is vital to aid present and future homeowners and investors in their decision-making. Up to date information is also extremely useful for real estate professionals, developers and other individuals with an interest in the property market in Singapore.

The 1990s saw a burgeoning development of private housing in the form of condominuims because of the deman for high-quality and high prestige residential housing. Condominium developments are therefore an attractive and viable alternative for the upwardly mobile.

In addition, strata developments designiated as condominiums have the added
advantage in that they are not subjected to any legal restrictions as to ownership, and as such, foreigners may freely acquire condominium units without prior approval.

The "Guide To Condominums In Singapore" was created in response to this increased interest in, and demand for condominiums. Available in two editions, a Central which provides property information on projects within close proximity of the city center; and the Suburban edition, which provides the user with property informaiton pertaining to the rest of Singapore, the Guide provides comprehensive coverage of the condominium property sector.

The Guide is presented in an easy to digest format with relevant data clearly
marked. The graphical format also aids in quick referencing desired property particulars. The Guide is unique in that it identifies, for each property, both the facilites and the various local amenitites available in the surrounding area, including the location of nearby MRT stations, places of worship and schools as well as the latest transacted price.

Technical details which are useful to both purchasers and agents have been
consolidated, including the location and district of the development, the date of which the the Temporary Occupancy Permit(TOP) has been issued, the spatial dimensions of each unit and the total number units in the strata development.
Potential homeowners will also be pleased to find photographs of prospective
purchases prominently displayed. Furthermore, each edition highlights prevailing statistics and projections relating to condominium supply and demand with additional sections on the legal position relating to conveyancing matters commenced after the introduction of anti-speculation legislation and the executive condominium scheme after May 1996. An added feature of the Guide is the inclusion of a segment dealing with up and coming new developments.

First-time purchasers will also be happy to note that care has been taken to provide an overview of the conveyancing procedures and the requirements for the buying and selling of condominiums in Singapore.

While every attempt has been made to verify the accurarcy of all the available property data and specifications quoted, due to the overwhelming number of new properties in development, it is impossible to secure complete infomation in some cases.
